Charlie Campbell
CHARLIE CAMPBELL
Host of "Sunday Morning Sounds of Sonshine"

Charlie Campbell has been in some phase of broadcasting since high school, from a live Saturday afternoon TV show featuring teen-age talent in the 1950's to Sunday morning announcer at KCBI for more than 30 years. Public address announcing, high school football and basketball coverage on the air, and motorcycle moto-cross announcing are part of his broadcast resume. Charlie is a member of the "Texas Gospel Music Hall of Fame" and serves as an honored Master of Ceremonies at numerous concerts each year.

Charlie and Dixie were married in 1958 and have three adult children, Richard, Craig and Jan. Scott Gillis is Jan's husband, and Lisa Hogan Campbell is Craig's wife. Richard has managed to stay single! The grandchildren are Maribeth, Campbell, Whitley and Carley Gillis, and Hogan and Chilton Campbell.

Charlie was educated in Christian music at Louisiana College in Pineville, La. and received private instruction by the late Mr. Billy S. Hilbun, well-known music publisher and minister of music. He worked in several Texas and Louisiana churches as a music minister during and after his college years.

"I can have no deeper blessing than knowing the music I play on Sunday morning touches people's hearts and moves them closer to Our Lord." That has always been the focus of Charlie's "Sunday Morning Sounds of Sonshine" and now, also on "Gospel Weekends".
