Mike Tirone brings two decades of solid broadcasting experience to the ministry of KCBI. Before he arrived in Dallas in 2006, Mike served for 12 years at NBC Universal, including CNBC and MSNBC. His initial role in the ministry of 90.9 FM was as Vice President of KCBI and Criswell Communications (now FDMI). When you consider that Mike’s favorite scripture is Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you," it’s no surprise that only two years later in 2008, he was named Senior Vice President and General Manager of KCBI. Mike considers changed lives to be the most rewarding aspect of his work at KCBI. “I love it when people who aren’t looking for Jesus come to know Him because Jesus is looking for them, and He uses KCBI to seek them out.”
Mike’s dedication to impacting the lives of others was reflected solidly in his work before coming to KCBI. He was NBC Executive Producer for special coverage of “Tsunami: Relief and Recovery,” and traveled throughout the U.S. producing the "Hardball College Tour" at various university and college campuses. He was awarded the NBC Ovation Award for coverage of President Ronald Reagan's funeral and was recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for excellence during coverage of 9/11.
Upon his arrival, Mike immediately applied this rich experience to strategically strengthen the programming and public presence of KCBI. He added new programming while maintaining the heart of the ministry. His commitment to motivate KCBI listeners to grow in their relationships with Jesus prompted him to create public Town Halls and “Evening With” forums at local churches. Mike’s “Devotion of the Week” goes to more than 8,000 subscribers weekly. Under his leadership, KCBI was recognized as the 2011 “Major Market Radio Station of the Year” by the National Religious of Broadcasters.
