Sharon can be heard anchoring news weekday mornings on KCBI. And now she can also be heard co-hosting the news-magazine, Christian News Weekly, with Dennis Page. The 30-minute show airs each Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on KCBI.
Sharon, who joined the staff in 1984, continues to be recognized for her excellence in news anchoring and reporting by the Press Club of Dallas, The Texas Associated Press Broadcasters, and by Scribe, which offers a national award for Christian Newscasters. In 2000, Sharon and the KCBI morning news team were honored with the first place award for Best Major Market Newscast from the Press Club of Dallas for excellence in journalism and communication in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and New Mexico. This award recognizes KCBI News as superior to any other station, including stations with very large news departments and all-news stations in these states. Since then, Sharon has won many other awards, including Best Newscast in the Scribe Awards, Best Feature and Best Documentary from the Press Club of Dallas and Best Feature from the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters. Congratulations, Sharon!
Highlights in ministry for Sharon include working on special feature reports on Gospel for Asia’s tsunami relief work in Tamil Nadu State, India, the work of Dallas-based Amazon Outreach in the Amazon River Basin, the work of Compassion International in Bolivia and a documentary report on the life of KCBI and Criswell Communications founder Dr. W.A. Criswell. Sharon also covered the 1997 Shoes for Russian Souls project (now known as Shoes for Orphan Souls) by reporting on the distribution of new shoes to orphan children throughout the Vladimir region.
Here's a brief profile of Sharon:
Sharon's Passion about Christian Broadcasting- As a Christian newscaster, I have the opportunity every day to report the events of the day from a Christian perspective...and to urge other believers to pray for God's guidance, mercy and grace as events unfold here in North Texas and around the world. As a whole, Christian broadcasters have the opportunity to share a message that changes lives and has an eternal impact. That's something to be passionate about!
What about your family brings you the most joy? God has graciously granted all three of us salvation through faith in Jesus Christ...and my husband has set the tone for a godly home. III John 4--"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." That and we have a lot of fun together...Don and Wesley are my family and my two best friends.
Birthdate/place: March 27 in Pittsburg, Kansas
Family: husband, Don; son, Wesley; three cats, Cougar, Spook and Night; and dog, Teddy
Conversion experience: At age 12, during family devotions, after my dad shared his salvation experience with us.

Highlights in ministry: reporting on God’s work here in North Texas and around the world; meeting and talking with KCBI listeners

Years at KCBI: started in August, 1984
Most rewarding aspect of my current work: I get to see God’s work through His children in their communities (locally, regionally and nationally), and tell their stories. I find that fascinating and inspiring.
The way I relax: spending time with family and friends, reading, watching movies and plays, exercising (Pilates, stairclimbing)
Hobbies/collections: music (play flute and enjoy singing in choir or groups), drama
