Jeff, what is your philosophy of preaching?
Without question, I want to preach and be true to the Scripture. I want to engage people and show them that the Bible is relevant to their lives today. It DOES have something to say for today and right where we are in life, no matter where that is. I want to talk to the person who thinks they have lost all hope and God could not love them, no matter what. I want people to understand the incredible depth of God’s grace, but also help them understand that grace comes when we have surrendered our heart in faith to Jesus Christ.
What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
In Ephesians chapter 3, verses 14 – 21, Paul prays for the Ephesians and reminds me that God really does love me and that He wants to fill me up with His love, surpassing what my brain can comprehend. "So that you may be filled up with the love of God and that you may be filled up with the knowledge that surpasses all understanding." It also says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, to Him be the glory…” God can do anything in my life. So if I know those two things – that God really loves me, that He loves me when I’m doing good and when I’m not doing so good, and that He can do anything in my life, that gives me hope for any situation that I might find myself in.
What is the greatest challenge facing the church in America today?
The biggest challenge facing the church is the same challenge since the beginning. The very first thing that came out of the devil’s mouth when he spoke to the first human beings was an attack on the Word of God. The Bible is the foundation for everything. It is what God tells us about Himself and what He is like. When we as a society get away from Scripture, we go down the slippery slope into destruction. I feel like my calling from the Lord is to preach His Word, whether it’s popular or not. Just like Paul told timothy to “preach the Word, whether it’s in season or out of season.”
What is behind the name of “From His Heart?”
Heart is big for me. I had prayed when I was first introduced as a young Christian to David in the Old Testament, that I too wanted to be a man after God’s own heart. I feel like my gifting from God is to speak from the heart to hearts. As I get messages from the Lord and spend time with the Him, and let His Word speak to my heart, then I share that with other’s hearts. People have asked me, “Whose heart is that from? Is that from your heart or God’s heart?” I say it’s from God’s heart through my heart to the hearts of the listeners.
What is your vision for the future of From His Heart Ministries?
We want to expand the outreach on radio and TV to those who are struggling, hurting and who need to know that God really does love them and God really can do something in their lives. I want to help people lift up their eyes to know that there is a Savior who really cares and can change their lives, if they’ll just turn to Him and follow Him and obey Him. It is amazing what the Lord will do.
From His Heart is now heard each weeknight at 10PM right here on 90.9 KCBI.
