Do You Suffer From Other-Shoe Syndrome?

Have you ever heard of other-shoe syndrome?  It’s that feeling of something’s going to happen, like you’re waiting for the other shoe to fall. A friend of mine just did a big long Facebook post on it and as I was reading it, I think that a lot of us are suffering from other-shoe syndrome.

After a year like 2020, I can definitely argue that things can always get worse. She ended her post with just a beautiful reminder of where our hope really is. We are waiting for the other shoe to fall, but that shoe is going to fall straight on the serpent’s head and crush it. That’s what we’re waiting for! That’s what our hope is in and that has been promised throughout the pages of Scripture since Genesis 3:15 when God promised a coming descendant who would one day crush the serpent’s head.

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” – Genesis 3:15

We’re all waiting for a shoe to fall, but it’s the shoe that ushers in our victory. To all who stumble to all who are wounded and to all who are weary and weak, come home to your heavenly Father. Come drink from the Fountain of Grace, come washed in the blood of your Savior, come rest from the world’s frantic pace. For He alone binds the broken, He alone names the stars. His Word is completed as spoken and He is the mender of hearts.
