St. Andrew United Methodist Church invites the community to share in the joy of Christmas music at its 11th annual Christmas program: “A St. Andrew Christmas: Pops!” on Sunday, December
St. Andrew United Methodist Church invites the community to share in the joy of Christmas music at its 11th annual Christmas program: “A St. Andrew Christmas: Pops!” on Sunday, December 15, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. (two performances), at 5801 W. Plano Parkway. The concert is a merry and family-friendly celebration of favorite Christmas carols – both secular and sacred in a bubbly pops-style sound. Housed within St. Andrew’s extraordinary sanctuary, the concert also provides a special place to reflect on the true meaning of the season.
St. Andrew choirs, from children to adults; world-renowned British Vocal Ensemble VOCES8; Organist Dr. Jonathan Gregoire and a full professional orchestra will perform timeless Christmas musical selections including John Williams’ “Merry Christmas,” Randol Bass’ “Gloria,” Mannheim Steamroller’s “Silent Night,” Vince Guaraldi’s “Christmas Time Is Here,” plus the music of John Rutter, Gary Fry, Barlow Bradford, and Taylor Davis.
“This year’s concert will celebrate the joy and merriment of Christmas with the carols we love to sing every holiday season,” said Taylor Davis, director of music and worship, St. Andrew. “Our friends from VOCES8 will return to perform some jazzy arrangements of popular Christmas songs and will also sing with our Chancel and Salt and Light Choirs. Additionally, there might even be a few surprises, especially for the children.”
Established worldwide as premier a cappella vocalists, VOCES8 tours extensively throughout Europe, North America and Asia. With an ongoing program of recordings and live broadcasts, VOCES8 is heard regularly on international television and radio. The choral group will spend the week prior to the concert in Plano performing and working with students in area schools on the fundamentals of music as well as on pieces the students are preparing for concerts contests.
Tickets range from $10 to $20, depending on seating sections and are available by calling 469-385-1810, or online at www.astandrewchristmas.org.
“This year’s event is a fun and joy-filled celebration of the Christmas songs we love – the songs that remind of us Christmases past, the songs we want our children to know and share with their children, the songs that celebrate the birth of our Savior,” added Davis. “It is our hope that the community will come together to celebrate the season, fill their hearts with joy, and experience a wonderful sense of warmth and community.”

St. Andrew United Methodist Church began in 1986 in the spirit of its namesake, a disciple of Jesus. The life of the Apostle Andrew embodies the church’s mission, which is to invite the Christian-ish and the unchurched to become passionate servants of Christ. The congregation of St. Andrew follows Jesus, lives in relationship, serves others, and takes risks in faith. Worship includes four services each weekend on a 21.2-acre campus at the corner of Plano Parkway and Mira Vista in Plano, Texas, where more than 2,000 people gather each weekend. Recent renovation allows the Sanctuary to host worship in both Traditional style, with the classic pipe organ, and Contemporary style, with a new LED center screen and lighting technology. Small groups and Bible studies gather on campus and throughout the region every day of the week. Mission opportunities serve our local area, neighboring regions, and global communities. The church has been repeatedly selected as a “Best Place to Worship in Plano” by the readers of the Plano Star Courier. St. Andrew United Methodist Church is located at 5801 W.
